Holy Hera! According to MTV and Blog@Newsarama, Jennifer Love Hewitt wants to be in more action-adventure movies, and she specifically cited portraying Wonder Woman. A Wonder Woman movie has never gotten past pre-production–its stay in development hell goes all the way back to 2001, with big-name directors like Todd Alcott and Joss Whedon giving it up.
When stating her “qualifications” for said role, Hewitt’s main reasons were: she’s “curvaceous,” athletic, and she loves gold bracelets and tiaras. Puh-lease. Wonder Woman is more than a nice figure and shiny jewelry; she is an essential element in DC Comics, going back nearly seventy years. Though her origin stems from Greek mythology, she has come to be one of America’s greatest superheroes, if not the most well-known female superhero of all time. Diana is also considered a (debatable) icon for American feminism. [/rant]
Misgivings aside, I would rather see Jennifer Love Hewitt as Wonder Woman than Miley Cyrus as Batgirl. I only hope Hewitt is serious; there have been too many female comic book characters who have transferred to the silver screen without their original heart, spirit and spunk.
Do you think Hewitt can pull off the Amazonian princess role? Or do you think someone else, say Angelina Jolie or Megan Fox, is a better candidate?

NBC has picked up David Kelley’s Wonder Woman pilot! No casting news as of yet, so Hewitt might get her wish after all. We’ll keep you updated!
