Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be…someone…in Batman 3

DC Women Kicking Ass and Variety report that Joseph Gordon Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer) will play Alberto Falcone–member of the mob and the villain Holiday Killer–in Dark Knight Rises.

This makes Falcone and Bane our two villains, as well as Catwoman, who could be a villain or heroine, or maybe a bit of both.

Side-note: Gordon-Levitt also becomes the fifth actor whom Christopher Nolan has recruited from his other films to one of the Batman movies–the others are Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe and Cillian Murphy. (And it could become six: Marion Cotillard, who played Mal in Inception, is rumored to join the cast as well.)

UPDATE 3/21: EW has posted a new article stating that, while Gordon-Levitt has indeed joined the DKR cast, he will not portray Falcone. Only the rumor gods know if this information is true, but for now…let’s take it with a grain of kosher salt until his role shows up on IMDb.

Regardless, it’s fun to play the guessing game when it comes to roles. Aside from those characters whom Nolan has confirmed he will not be using (including Mr. Freeze, Penguin and The Riddler), we could be looking at Gordon-Levitt portraying an additional villain, or perhaps a different supporting character. Perhaps mob leader Black Mask? Detective Bullock, Comish Gordon’s right-hand man? Deadshot, assassin and Secret Six member? As far as heroes go, Robin is teetering precariously on the edge of the table, or we could see a cameo by a fellow Justice League member, but that’s a long shot.

So, who do you think Gordon-Levitt will portray in Bats 3?
