Geeking out doesn’t even begin to cover it: I’m making the trip to Phoenix Comicon!!
Phoenix Comicon will be this weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center, projecting an estimated 14,000 attendees–the biggest PCC has seen yet! It looks to be an amazing event, and it’s also my first con ever. From big names like Stan Lee, Leonard Nimoy, Billy Dee Williams and Elvira to creators, stars and professionals like Jamie Paglia, Wil Wheaton, Jim Calafiore, Clare Kramer and Adam Baldwin, feel free to geek out over all the celebrity and local guests with whom you’ll be sharing the same air, not to mention opportunities to ask them questions, hear about past, present and upcoming projects, snap photos, and sign autographs. Still don’t believe me? Never mind Star Wars, Star Trek and Tron: if you’re a fan of shows like Chuck, V, Buffy, Eureka and True Blood; authors like Aprilynne Pike, Cherie Priest and James A Owen; if you love gaming, discovering new bands, or genres like horror, steampunk and anime, there’s a guest, panel or event here for you. Plus, there are additional events aside from the convention, including the Geek Prom (benefitting Kids Need to Read), Steampunk Ball, Zombie Walk, Anime Rave and even a film festival!
Today is the last day to buy tickets online, and full-weekend passes are only $35! So what are you waiting for?
Here are some panels this weekend that I’m especially excited to see:
1:30-2:30 Women Characters who own the comic book world
3:00-4:00 Meet Jim Calafiore and Mike McKone
6:00-7:00 Just a Minute with Paul Cornell and Friends
10:30-11:30 Spotlight on Bruce Boxleitner
12:00-1:00 Vic Mignogna
1:30-2:30 Leonard Nimoy
3:00-4:00 Stan Lee: Excelsior!
4:30-5:30 Jaime Paglia’s Eureka!
10:30-11:30 Spotlight on George Takei
1:30-2:30 Chuck! Adam Baldwin and Robert Duncan McNeill
*whew* Hopefully I’ll have time to actually walk the convention. And breathe.
I’ll do my best to keep you updated here on AHB, but at least one super-awesome entry might have to wait till Monday! Until then, keep an eye on Twitter (on which you will probably see many caps and exclamation marks)!
